Ruth Dill-Macky

Ruth Dill-MackyDr. Dill-Macky’s applied small grains pathology program emphasizes epidemiology and disease management practices to develop effective disease control, especially through the use of host resistance and cultural practices.  Her PhD and postdoctoral work on stem and leaf rust of barley provided the foundation of her interest in the diseases of small grains. Her research at the University of Minnesota for the past two decades has largely focused on Fusarium head blight of wheat, barley and oat although she also conducts research on loose smut of oat, net blotch of barley, tan spot of wheat, bacterial leaf streak of wheat and barley and more recently has started working with the root rots of cereals.
