Stan Hokanson

Stan HokansonDr. Hokanson's interests in sustainable plant health are broadly centered on the breeding and selection of reliably cold hardy, disease resistant woody landscape plant cultivars that truly represent advancements over cultivars that are available on the market currently. Regarding disease resistance, they are interested in selecting woody landscape plant cultivars with durable disease resistance. Their most representative work to those ends involves efforts to identify rose black spot resistance genes and develop molecular markers linked to the resistance genes we identify. The markers would allow breeders to pursue marker assisted selection approaches to rose breeding.
